Northern Sicily Photo Expedition with a Fujifilm Ambassador

Journey summary

Join Fujifilm ambassador and photojournalist Alex Coghe on a journey through the heart of the northern Sicily, exploring the historic old “barrios” of Palermo like Vucciria, Ballard, and Capo. With its history, diversity, cultural wealth, its people and its food, northern Sicily promises to be the perfect backdrop for a photo expedition.  On this 5 days experience, you will document the everyday life of Sicilians in Palermo and other villages around Palermo like Corleone, Bolognetta, Ficuzza. This experience also includes a trip to Mazara del Vallo(founded by the Phoenicians and a great example of coexistence with Arab culture) and Poggioreale,  known for its old ghost town destroyed by an earthquake in 1968.

Day by day itinerary

We will keep our itinerary flexible and customizable based on your needs and interest.
A sample itinerary would include:
2 days in Sicily’s vibrant capital city Palermo (with old popular neighborhoods like Vucciria, Ballarò and Capo)
3 days in the important port city of Trapani with excursions to:
* Corleone
* Cefalú, a seaside paradise
* Segesta, with its famous Greek temple
* Erice
* Castellammare del Golfo, an old place of fishermen
* Poggioreale, the ghost town
* Mazara del Vallo where the mix of culture with Arabs making the place very particular to document

All ground transportation during the workshop

Expert instruction by Alex Coghe, including small group field instruction, with one-on-one time & critique sessions
Extensive pre-trip planning documents and e-books for both photography and Italian culture

Recommended equipment
A DSLR or mirrorless camera with any lenses you like. A 24-35mm lens preferred

This expedition is open to all levels of photographers. It is set up in a workshop format and includes intense
photography with several shoots, night and day, including daily feedback, with critiques, focused to make you a better photographer and getting able you discover your vision and to produce stunning images for your portfolio and photographic growth.
